In this case, my colleague, Chris Scholten from Valsplat, and I collaborated to develop a comprehensive Northstar app strategy for PostNL. This strategy served as the main source for the roadmap over the next two years, guiding the evolution of the PostNL mobile app.

Process

We began by analyzing existing research on customer journeys to identify pain points and opportunities for improvement. By leveraging this existing knowledge, we ensured our strategy aligned with PostNL's overall vision and the evolving needs of customers.


Through collaborative workshops involving key stakeholders, we gained a deep understanding of their requirements and ensured the strategy reflected PostNL's long-term objectives. By applying design thinking principles, we fostered a collaborative environment, encouraging cross-functional teams to contribute ideas.

Based on the insights gathered from existing research and stakeholder input, we developed intuitive user flows, wireframes, and prototypes. These visual representations allowed us to iteratively refine the design, incorporating feedback from stakeholder reviews.


With a focus on maintaining brand consistency, we created a visually appealing design language that reflected PostNL's identity while considering the latest design trends and user preferences. Accessibility considerations were integrated to ensure inclusivity and adherence to WCAG guidelines.

Solution

Our Northstar app strategy for PostNL served as the foundation for the roadmap over the next two years. By aligning with PostNL's overall strategy and considering the existing research on customer journeys, we aimed to enhance the user experience, improve efficiency, drive user adoption, and foster brand loyalty.


With the insights gathered from existing research, collaborative workshops, and iterative design processes, we developed a strategy that positioned PostNL as a customer-centric and innovative logistics service provider. The strategy provided a clear direction for future enhancements and iterations of the PostNL mobile app, supporting PostNL's long-term goals and ensuring a delightful user experience.
